REVISED CRITERIA FOR QUALIFYING FOR THE 2011 PACIFIC GAMES TRIATHLON TEAM

 

(11 July 2010) Qualifying events for the 2011 Pacific Games triathlon team are as follows:

  • July 18 - Summer Sprint Series race #1
  • July 25 - Summer Sprint Series race #2
  • August 1 - Summer Sprint Series race #3

The top male and female resident* finisher of each race will earn a slot on the team provided they also meet the qualifying times. Qualifying times for each event are as follows:

  • July 18, July 25, August 1 - 1:14 or better (men); 1:25 or better (women)

There are three male and three female slots available. In the event that the top resident finisher of an earlier qualifying event is also the top finisher for a following qualifying event, that slot will roll down to the next resident finisher provided he/she has also met the qualifying times.

Any protests or complaints regarding the selection of the team should be forwarded to the Guam Triathlon Federation no later than 10 days after the team selections are made public.

The organizing commitee for the 2001 Pacific Games has decided that the triathlon distance for the games will be sprint (750m swim/20k bike/5k run).

*Resident, as defined by the Guam National Olympic Committe, is anyone born on Guam with a cumulative residency of five years. Those not born on Guam must have five years of consecutive residency on Guam with the fifth (or latest year) being the same year as the intended event for participation. Tax documents may be required as proof of residency. All qualified team members must also possess a valid United States passport and be a member in good standing of the Guam Triathlon Federation.
